These instructions are provided for those customers who are comfortable working with their own computers and networks. |
Failure to follow any of these steps EXACTLY may cause the program to fail.

1. DO NOT Uninstall PDQuick Retail from your old computer.
If you do not have a monthly voice Service Plan or your software is more than 1 year old
you may be required to purchase a new license or service plan. Contact us first if you
are unsure of your license status. 2. Archive your invoices. If you keep a maximum of 13 months of detailed data or even better 3 months or less the upgrade will process quickly. If you do not archive the upgrade to take many hours to complete depending on how many invoices are active. 3. Exit PDQuick Retail completely out to Windows. 4. If you are running a Multi-Station Version of PDQuick Retail shut down ALL Terminals using PDQuick Retail. 5. If running the PDQuick Retail Price Checker or any other application accessing the PDQuick Retail databases shut all of those down completely. 6. Browse to your existing PDQuick Retail ROOT folder on the OLD computer (example: "C:\Program Files\PDQ 40") and COPY (do not not cut!) the entire contents of that folder and ALL sub-folders on to backup media device of your choice. 7. Download and Install the CURRENT DEMO VERSION of PDQuick Retail on your NEW computer or server. When installing uncheck "SAMPLE COMPANIES". 8. After the Installer finishes DO NOT start PDQuick Retail on the NEW computer at this time. 9. From your BACKUP MEDIA copy six files USERS.DBF, USERS.MDX, USERPREF.DBF, USERPREF.MDX, CLIENT.DBF, CLIENT.MDX to the PDQuick Retail root folder of on your NEW computer. (example: "C:\Program Files\PDQ 40") 10. From your BACKUP MEDIA copy your ENTIRE COMPANY data folder on the NEW computer. (example: "C:\Program Files\PDQ 40\MYCOMPANY") 11. Start PDQuick Retail a file rebuild will occur and then the program will exit. The data transfer is now complete. 12. If after updating your PDQuick Retail software reverts to Demo Mode and your last purchase was less than 1 year ago or you have a Help Desk Service Plan go to Help, Request Activation Key. Under these conditions a new activation key will be sent to you by Email at no addtional charge. Support Plan customers get unlimited free re-activation requests for the life of the support plan. * Non-Support Plan Customers quailify for only one free re-activation request per license within the first year of purchase. |
